We absolutely love when we see companies coming together to make our industry a more diverse, equitable and inclusive space, and that’s why we are thrilled to bring more awareness to OWA sponsor Walman Optical’s partnership with Black Eyecare Perspective.
To reinforce the 13% promise created by Black Eyecare Perspective to raise the alarm on inequality found within the #eyecare arena, #Walman will be granting 10 #optometry scholarships to students who self-identify as Black or African American and that meet eligibility requirements. Applications for 2021 will be accepted via the Walman Scholarship Program on their website through May 2.
Led by BEP’s Chief Visionary Officer, Dr. Essence Johnson, other important initiatives coming up for the organization include a video contest and signing day on Tuesday, April 27 that were created to further support Black and African American students that have been accepted into a school or college of optometry.
